Install a Sauna in Your Home

April 15th, 2012 admin

Saunas were invented in Scandinavia and were originally designed to fulfill a few purposes: 1) Relaxation. There’s nothing better than to “chill” so to speak in a sauna to loosen up those tightened, nerve-wracked muscles; 2) Community – Hanging out together in a sauna brings people closer together, and simply allows them to spend time together. 3) Sweat. Sweating releases toxins from your body through your skin and you may not realize it but your body will thank you profusely. Toxins should never stay in the body too long and saunas are a great way to eliminate them. 3) This also invigorates the skin, and you will appear much younger than you are.

In general, you remove poisons your body, and at the same time, you get your body to unwind, which most people absolutely need. Otherwise, you end up with complicated health issues and well, you just don’t need to deal with that if you have a choice, do you?

About the Sauna
Detoxify, speed up the healing process, and purify the skin in the comfort of your own home with the Ironman Carbon Tech two-person sauna. Made of elegant hemlock, the Carbon Tech distributes heat far more evenly than most ceramic units, with a warmup time that’s roughly twice as fast as traditional units (15 to 20 minutes vs. 35 to 40 minutes). The sauna also requires less energy than ceramic saunas, with an ultra-thin heating unit that takes up a minimum of space without sacrificing temperature (the sauna reaches a maximum of 140 degrees F). And because of the even heat distribution and lack of hot spots, users can sit in the sauna for longer periods without burning. Now you can nourish your skin, cleanse your immune system, and relieve nasal congestion without driving to the gym or visiting a spa.

Other details include a double-thick (8 mm) tempered glass door that lets in outside light, an interior light, and a control panel for the built-in CD player and AM/FM tuner. The Carbon Tech, which comfortably seats up to two people, measures 47 by 41 by 75 inches.

Know What is in the Medications You’re Taking

March 28th, 2012 admin

drugs from pharmacy
Did you know that prescription medication and medical advice often kills a person rather than healing them? What!? We’ve been brain washed into thinking that they are supposed to be helping us but in most cases, they don’t. They simply feed the greedy pockets of “big pharma” pharmaceutical companies. How do we know which drugs do damage? Which ones will kill us?

The 24-Hour Pharmacist- is the perfect pill for anyone seeking enlightenment on overall health from a resource that is thorough and fun to read. With chapter titles such as “Frazzled, Frustrated and Freaked Out: Coping with Anxiety and Stress” to “More Jiggle, Less Joint Pain: What You Can Do About Arthritis” you get the sense that the author well knows what course to recommend but also truly enjoys educating others. One feature I found especially enlightening were the sections in each chapter entitled “Suzy’s Secrets From Behind The Counter”. Here is where she (Suzy) offers great little insights to live by with a perspective that only a pharmacist can give. One good example of this is in the chapter about weight loss where she explains that some drugs can make you hungry. Included in her list are sedatives and tranquilizers, antidepressants, allergy pills, female hormones and diuretics. Wow, who knew?

THE Backpack to Get for Your Laptop

March 26th, 2012 admin

This computer laptop backpack is perfect as a combination Laptop/Camera and Equipment/Pens/Journal/Day pack, and this bag always seems to end up with room to spare. There are SO many pockets, compartments, pouches and nifty places to put things in this bag, you will rarely run out of room.

Construction – tough, comfortable, practical, easy to use

Fit / Wear – comfortable for long periods of time, distributes weight well, makes carrying more stuff a lot easier.

Where to keep everything:

Laptop Compartment – 2 zippers – The compartment closest to your back houses both an internal “pouch” that secures your laptop (with click-lock strap) and plenty of room for papers and notebooks. Being able to keep both my laptop and some paper notebooks in this one compartment is very handy for me. Some of my packs in the past had “laptop only” compartments that made this impossible. Good design here, for me, keeping the PC safe while keeping similar sized gear handy.

Main Compartment – 2 zippers – the largest volume compartment is in the middle of the bag. I can put a couple of small journals, some business envelopes, a pack of wet-naps (to clean up 5 year old), my 35mm sized camera and lots more in here and have room to spare. It’s an awesome main storage area that’s shaped in a way that gives you flexiblity not only in terms of how much stuff to carry but how you choose to orient it inside the compartment.

Pouch for Quick Access – 1 zipper – near the main grab handle on top is a small, red lined pouch that holds … MP3 player, CD player, wallet, keys … stuff you want quick access to near the top of the bag. FINALLY someone lined it with something other than black, making fumbling for black bits of tech toy goodness a lot easier to do. And the velcro strapped inner pocket for MP3 player or cell phone is great for protecting same if keys are in the pouch.

Larger Pouch for Quick Access – no zipper – I’ve never before had a bag that featured an “open” compartment with no zippers that was this large. Between the main compartment in the middle and the organizer compartment on the front, there’s an open topped compartment that I find AWESOME for tucking my camera into when I’m shooting and walking a lot. No need to unzip or re-zip between shooting, just tuck the camera into this open topped area and I’m good to go, and able to grab it again just as quickly when the need arizes. If I hit dirt, rain or long periods with no need to shoot, I can always put it back in the main zippered storage area. Really great idea.

Organizer Compartment – 1 zipper – The front pouch is a fairly typical organizer pouch with inner pockets for cell phones, pens, etc. Within the main zipper are a) inner red zippered area for loose bits (big enough to hold a fist full of pens and pencils), b) pouches for smaller items (cell, pens, etc.) and c) a larger main area tall and wide enough to hold business envelopes turned either direction, and about an inch to 2 inches deep, depending on how you decide to stuff it.

Quad Water Pockets – the combination of 2 zippered side pockets for water AND 2 net pockets comes in quite handy. LOTS Of water or a combination of water and gear … it works great.

Straps and Back – well padded, easy to adjust, comfortable to wear … awesome. Chest strap and thumb pulls on shoulder straps are a plus, though one of the thumb pull rings cracked on me, but the tab is still useful for tightening.

Trim – I’ve never seen a company trim their bags with so much style as Swissgear does. It’s not for everyone but will work for many of you out there.

During this recession, it may be hard to make cash donations, but there are so many other ways to show your support. As Americans, we are surrounded by an infinite amount of resources in relief efforts to help out our neighboring country. Please do your part today.

10. Habitat for Humanity has already started to plan their part in rebuilding homes for as many Haitians as they possibly can. They are always looking for volunteers to help out with projects as well.

Here is an extensive list of other organizations that you can donate using your American Express points or you can make a cash donation.

New Home Loan Rules Will Take Effect on July 30, 2009

February 25th, 2012 admin

From wisebread:

“If you are in the process of buying a new primary residence or second home, or considering refinancing a loan, a new set of federal consumer protection rules taking effect on July 30th, 2009 may affect you. These rules are a part of the Mortgage Disclosure Improvement Act of 2008, and they are designed to give consumers more disclosure of the cost of a loan and also more time to make a decision. The final rules from the Federal Reserve were modified recently and here is a quick summary.

Early disclosures are required within three business days
– Good faith estimates of mortgage loan costs must be given to a consumer within three business days of a consumer’s loan application. Also, no fees may be collected besides a reasonable credit check fee. This means that the good faith estimate needs to be given before the lender collects an application or appraisal fee. In the past it was common for lenders to collect hundreds of dollars in fees before providing any cost estimates.

Creditors must wait seven business days to close a loan after early disclosures – This gives the consumer at least seven days to decide whether to close or not upon receiving the initial estimate. Currently it is common for disclosures to be provided less than 24 hours before closing.”
